Merry Christmas, Santa!!!
Santa came to Lee's Summit last night, a few days early so that all the kiddos could give them their wish list!!! My friend Courtney has found a wonderful Santa that comes to her house which is SOOOO much better than the lines at the malls! He comes and the kids can tell tell him what their little hearts desire for the time being. Some love him and some not so much. This year Grant surprised us all by hopping up on his lap and smiling away. Last year was a much different story-it involved a lot of tears and crying and shaking. This year was much happier. On the list was: a train table, some trains, a new train track, a Diego train (see the pattern??) and a bike. We then had my college teammates and their kids over for a Mexican dinner and a small gift exhange. Grant wound up with 2 awesome puzzles that we have put together about 15 hundred times since late last night, they were a hit!!! There were 6 muchkins running around our house screaming with delight with their new gifts...makes the holidays even better. Their giggles are a little bit contagious!!!
As Christmas nears, there will be more on here to write about I am sure....enjoy the season!

Halloween Adventures

This Halloween was a lot of fun!!! Our holiday started off with our annual pumpkin carving party at the neighbor's house on Thursday. We have about 10-12 pumpkins to get carved, and we aren't talking about your average triangle eyes and jagged mouth pumpkins. Grant picked out a Thomas pattern and a Mickey Mouse pattern (which were nicely displayed in our street when I woke up this morning...thank you annoying teenagers!!). After that event was over, Friday brought our Halloween party at Noma's, then off to see Nana at her bank and get some treats from her co-workers, then off to see Gigi (great grandma bea) but she was napping, so we hit the nurses up for some goodies, then to see Great Papa (great grandpa bill) he played his guitar and Grant did some fancy footwork for him, then off to see Aunt Debbie and Molly, then FINALLY back home to meet Alivia, Jackson, Leah and Mara!!! Grant was beside himself when the trick or treating actually got started. Nana and Papa joined us and we tore up the neighborhood. We had a pirate (grant), thomas the train (jackson), a chicken (alivia), a monster bride (leah) and the most adorable southern belle (mara) you have ever seen!! It was a great night capped off with pizza and cookies!!! The weather looks to be turning colder, so bring on the HOLIDAYS!!!!!

we've been away....
Actually I have been slacking something fierce!!! Since I have last posted, Grant has been to his first circus ever (which was a huge hit), visited 2 pumpkin patches and many other adventures. We are currently LOVING the fall weather, its been nice and cool for a while now. We are getting pumped for Halloween-this year Grant is going to be a pirate, there has been a lot of pirate talk in our house (ahoy-maybe---rather than maytee!!) Pics of that soon. We have a busy month, so I will be sure to capture as much of it as I can!!
Love and miss you all!

Tumbling Part 1

We have enrolled Grant into tumbling for parents/tots. We are taking this class with my friend Allison and her little girl Mallory. Lots of balance beam, hanging from bars, jumping on trampolines and into ball pits. It really was much more fun that we had anticipated. The first class was on Monday, but before we left for class, Grant and Mallory enjoyed a nice, ice cold popsicle!! They both did great and are excited for the next class!! Talk soon!

Family Trip 2008

soooo.....we had this great idea to take g to the lake. mike took a few days off, i left work early and we packed and were off for a few days in the sun. friday was excellent. we stayed with our friends at their fabulous condo. new pontoon-dinner on the lake-grant thought this was all very much cool. fast forward to saturday morning at 5 am---104 fever and a very unhappy kid. sickness ended our trip, but we went down swinging. he tried to stick it out, but just couldn't cut it. we left early sunday morning to return to kc, hit the urgent care, get diagnosed with a virus, and then come home to find mike with a 104 fever. thankfully, everyone is on the mend and i have yet to catch anything....KNOCK ON WOOD!!! now that softball is over-we will have lots of adventures to share!!!

Good vs Evil
Grant is entering what we were warned about as terrible twos. Although, its a very odd stage. He can go a week and be a complete Saint, only to followed up with a whirlwind of emotions that come from no where. He is into his tricycle right now and he LOVES baseball. Ever since his trip to OKC with my team, he has a new found fetish for hitting and playing catch over and over and over again. Also big right now, SIDEWALK CHALK! Colors and shapes (as long as it somewhat resembles Thomas the Train!!)
We are loving the heatwave we are having right now as it means more outside play for Grant. He is very fond of both of our nieghbors girls. We have a set of sisters on one side that are 8 and 11 and they are great with Grant. They play with him all the time. On the other side is Alyssa (whom Grant has nicknamed Bug) She is 14 months old and Grant just absolutely loves her. Its good for us, they entertain each other!!!
Happy weekend.....

Our 4th of July was ____________

complete insanity!!!! We started the weekend off with our annual par-tay!! Good times, good food, good company. Grant was most interested this year in snakes, smoke bombs, roman candles and OMG does the kid love sparklers. We then spent the actual 4th with my parents, Mike had gone back to work and GiGi (Great Grandma Bea) We ate a great BBQ dinner and blew stuff up outside. Then comes the 5th, we went to the pool with Alivia and Mallory. Grant had a really good time despite the fact the forecast called for 88 and we got 75, maybe....it was FREEZING, but I forget that kids could care less if it were snowing outside, as long as they are in the water!!! The next brought pool time at home, hanging out with the neighbors and trying to relax for the coming week! It's been so nice here lately, but the heat is finally coming. Grant is really starting to talk about Santa. He's very interested in being a good boy as he knows that Santa watches his every move. Our new found late night hobby is catching lightning bugs with the neighbor girls and keeping them in our lightning bug cage that Alivia's Great Grandpa made for us. He absolutely loves it.....
Miss you all!

Just keep swimming.....

Mike and I took Grant over to my cousin Denise's house this evening after work for a quick dip in the pool. It was super nice out and her pool has the perfect setting as there is nothing around to look at but nature. Grant absolutely loved the water. He was in there of course with his Thomas water wings and Thomas goggles--makes everything much less scary!!! He's still not too sure of water in his face, but the water wings kept him above water so he really started to like the freedom of floating around the pool. We are potty training right now and he is learning quick, although I will admit, its a lot like potty training puppies. He has learned to go when we sit him on the pot and he does not tell us often that he has to go--but we are with few accidents, so I will take it!!! He has lots of fun "big boy" underwear that he picks out every morning while we are getting dressed--thats his favorite part!! Enjoy the weather, the 4th is right around the corner!!

Spring has sprung....
ahhhh, the weather is so wonderful, finally!!! yesterday was mike and i's 6 year anniversary. love you honey. we tallied up that we have spent 11 years of our lives together (including time at college) so we have had one heck of a ride with wonderful role models for us to shape our relationship after (thanks mom, dad, barb and jerry). we celebrated with a bar b q with the nieghbors out back, but not before grant had his 2nd spring fling program for daycare. we were a little nervous as he was going to tackle this event without our regular 3 hour nap, but he worked through it like a champ. sang some songs, ate like a bear and passed out in the car on the ride home. this week brings lots of softball practice as memorial day is the start of our season and lots of outdoor time with the neighbors we spend a majority of our time with. miss and love you guys!!!

good game
I had to share this cute little story.
As you all know, Jason and I coach softball every summer. This is something we have been doing for years, so Grant has of course been adopted by the team and the parents. He came out to watch Mommy and Uncle Jason in the championship game last night with Nana. At the end of the game, he ran out on the field so that he could go through the line with me to tell the other team good game and give everyone high fives. They of course loved it, but not nearly as much as Grant!! He's about a year away from bat boy status!!!

Gone Fishin'

Mike had the luxury of taking Grant fishing for the first time (he had to fight my dad over it!!) They went out to Denise's house this past Wednesday to fish in their pond. They had the perfect weather (it was 70 degrees and sunny) and apparently, the perfect teacher as Grant caught a 1.5 pound bass out of the pond. Grant has been talking about catching this fish (or as he likes to say "5 fish") for 3 days. There was a lot of hugging and kissing the fish too, he thought it was a lot of fun. I am excited as this gives us another outdoor adventure we can tackle as a family!!

Lots going on....

Again, my apologies for being gone for so long. Time really gets away from you sometimes..
Since my last post we have: celebrated Easter #3, visited the zoo, gone to the gym with Pete, played in the rain...we have been busy! Easter went great this year, Grant really got into dying eggs and REALLY got into finding them. We managed to hunt eggs outside (although it was quite chilly) in the only 5 minutes of the day it decided to snow, but Grant could have cared less. Mike and I had the weekend off together last weekend (happens about twice a year!) So we took Grant to the zoo-it's one of his favorite things to do. We had a great time and Grant wore us out. We had a play date with Pete about 3 weeks ago at Gage Center which has open gym for toddlers on Saturday mornings. They had a blast, most fun was the giant foam pit the kids could launch themselves into. The Easter bunny left rain boots for Grant at his Nana and Papa's house-they are his favorite thing next to the baseball glove that Uncle Jason got him!! We miss you guys...I'll try to be better this month!

2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Today marks the day that we held the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Grant and all of his little buddies. Much more fun this year than last as all but 2 of the kids are walking--lots of chaos finding the carefully hidden eggs! We had to hold it inside this year since we woke up this morning to a slight dusting of snow....BLAH!! The weather didn't dampen the little one's spirits as they showed up ready to go! We all had a great time and can't wait to do it again next weekend with family! Grant had a blast until we put a limit on the amount of a candy a 2 year is supposed to shove in their mouth at a time!! Once we got over that, it was all fun and games!! Hope everyone is enjoying the extra hour of daylight as much as we are!!! Hippity hoppity Easter's on its way....

well, where did February go?!?!

okay, so I blinked once and now it's almost March?? That's scary! Grant is watching Little Einsteins right now, so I have a brief moment to try and catch you all up! Here it goes: we are still in our second session of little kickers, we have 2 more weeks left and then we are done with that until fall. He loves it so much, we are considering letting him repeat this age group class again! Swimming lessons wrapped up today, still a little sheepish around the water, but we are getting better. We are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at our house the 15th of March. All of my girlfriends and their kiddos come over for cupcakes and egg hunting, its so much fun, plus this year we can add about 3 or 4 that weren't walking last year. Also with this time of year comes the scary visit from the huge Easter Bunny that Grant is not so fond of. Other than that, he's all boy and up to no good! But we love him!!!

Looks who's 2....

Wow, I cannot believe that Grant has been in our lives for two years. It has literally flown by! He is so much fun that I can't really remember life pre-motherhood! Thursday was his actual birthday and we celebrated with Nana and Papa and some presents. We were then off to start soccer back up. Mike and I decided that he needed to get re-introduced to soccer since the last time we tackled. He loved it-its great for him with all the kids, learning to listen and getting some much needed exercise from being cooped up all winter!!! We ended Grant's birthday with dinner with all of us and Uncle Jay!! It was a great 2nd birthday. Friday was his daycare birthday party, which was nice and low-key! There are 10 kiddos at Noma's with him and loves each and every one of them! A little cake, some presents and we were on our way! Today was a different story-we had the nice big birthday party for him! It boiled down to about 9 kid's, pizza, cupcakes and chaos!! Grant opened his first present (which happened to be from Uncle Jay) and it was all downhill from there. Grant LOVES Thomas the Train (remember Erin!!) and once he got his tiny little hands on the remote control Thomas, he could have cared less what else was there! Good times!! He did try his little heart out at blowing the candles out-no such luck this year, we'll try again next year!!
I need some rest............its been a busy 3 days for a very lucky little man!!!
